Academic Year Housing

The academic year housing contract includes housing for the fall and spring semesters. Students admitted to the fall semester are eligible to apply for housing for the entire academic year. Meal plans are available and are required for all residents except those living in the apartments. Move In takes place the first day of the contract and any time after that.

 

Application Dates

The Academic Year housing application opens the first Monday of September of the previous calendar year and remains open until the the end of the fall semester.

  •  Academic Year 2025-2026 (Fall 2025 & Spring 2026): Opens Monday, September 02, 2024
  • Academic Year 2026-2027 (Fall 2026 & Spring 2027): Opens Monday, September 01, 2025


Term Dates

Fall Term 2025
  • August 16, 2025 to December 13, 2025
    • Your stay will include Fall Break and Thanksgiving Break
    • Your stay will not include Winter Break (December 13 to January 10)
      • Residents are not required to check out during Winter Break (remove belongings or return keys)
      • Residents must apply for Extended Stay housing to remain on campus anytime during this timeframe.
Spring Term 2026
  • January 10, 2026 to May 07. 2026
    • Your stay will include Spring Break

 

 

Fall Term 2026
  • August 15, 2026 to December 12, 2026
  • Housing Application opens September 01, 2025
    • Your stay will include Fall Break and Thanksgiving Break.
    • Your stay will not include Winter Break (December 12 to January 09)
      • Residents are not required to check out during Winter Break (remove belongings or return keys)
      • Residents must apply for Extended Stay housing to remain on campus anytime during this timeframe.
Spring Term 2027
  • January 09, 2027 to May 06. 2027
    • Your stay will include Spring Break


Room Selection Schedule

I. ADA and Returning LLCs 


ADA


March 03 to March 06

Students with ADA priority housing registration will be contacted by the Department of Residence Life via email to renew or select a new room. Please check your Tech email often. 

Returning LLCs

March 03 to March 06
Student returning to their LLC will be contacted to renew or select a room from the building assigned to their LLC. Applies to Agriculture, Engineering and Stack.

II. Returning Students


1. Same Room Renewal

March 10- March 13
  • Timeslot: Not required. Just go to the application and renew room. 
  • If the room is available, current residents will be able to reselect their current room for next academic year. 
  • Students living in rooms not available for the following academic year will be notified via email. 
  • Rooms not reselected during the designated time frame will be released for selection by other residents.


2. Roommate Group Selection &  Apartment Selection*


March 17 to March 20

*Apartment Selection:

  • March 17: Seniors (90 plus hours)
  • March 18: Juniors (60-89 hours)
  • March 19: Sophomores (30-59 hours)
  • March 20: Groups with mixed classifications
  • Timeslot: Required. Issued based on application date. Emailed to ATU email address.
  • Groups must be formed and verified by March 09.
  • Groups must have 2 OR 4 people.
  • All roommates must have signed the housing contract and made the $100 room prepayment (or have had the prepayment waived by signing the contract between Dec.1, 2025-Jan.04, 2026 at 11:59pm)
  • All members of a group will be emailed the same timeslot. 
  • Groups must designate one person to place all members in a room. 
  • After roommate group room selection Residence Life cannot guarantee students will be able to live in the same room. Plan accordingly. 


3. All Returning Students


March 31- April 03
  • Timeslot: Required. Issued based on application date. Emailed to ATU email address. 
  • All returning students who applied for housing will receive a timeslot to select a room 


4. Auto Allocation


April 07-April 10
  • All returning students who applied for housing and signed a contract but have not selected a room will be automatically assigned a room. 
  • Auto-allocation will be done based on availability and preferences. 


5. Room Removal


May 12
  • Rooms assignments will be cancelled for any students not registered for classes. 
  • These students may select a room again after registering for classes. 
  • Original booking not guaranteed. 

III. LLC Room Selection


LLC Room Selection (Honors, Engineering, Stack, Agriculture)


April 14-April 17
  • New students admitted to a Living Learning Community will select a room within their assigned building

V. Transfer Students


Transfer Students

April 21 to April 24
  • Requirements: Transfer students must be registered for classes or have a registration appointment by April 16. 
  • Transfer students not registered for classes by April 16 and with no registration appointment will wait to select after May 05. 
  • Timeslot: Required. Issued based on contract date. Emailed to ATU email address. 
  • A timeslot is a date/time when students can start selecting a room. 

V. Incoming Freshmen


1. Roommate Group Selection

May 05- May 08
  • Timeslot: Required. Issued based on application date. Emailed to ATU email address. 
  • Groups must be formed and verified by April 26.
  • Groups must have 2 OR 4 people.
  • All members of a group will be emailed the same timeslot. 
  • All roommates must have signed the housing contract and made the $100 room prepayment (or have had the prepayment waived by signing the contract between Dec.1, 2025-Jan.04, 2026 at 11:59pm).
  • Groups must designate one person to place all members in a room.

2. All Incoming freshmen

May 05- May 29
  • All incoming freshmen who are registered for classes/have an advising appointment and have signed a housing contract will be able to select a room. 
  • Timeslot: Required. Issued based on contract date. Emailed to ATU email address. 
  • A timeslot is a date/time when students can start selecting a room 

V. All students


1. Auto Allocation

June 16-19
  • All students with a housing contract and who have not selected a room will be automatically assigned a room. 
  • Auto-allocation will be done based on availability and preferences. 

2. Room Removal

July 1
