Membership: Membership of the IRB is governed by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
                  regulation 45 CFR 46.107. The IRB is a standing committee of ATU.
 
The ATU IRB will have representation from each of the academic colleges. Members will
                  be appointed by the Dean of the Graduate College (in consultation with the deans of
                  the colleges) according to federal guidelines and the needs of the university. A good
                  faith effort should be made in the selection of membership to reflect diversity of
                  race, gender, cultural background, and research experience. The IRB Chair will be
                  appointed by the Dean of the Graduate College (in consultation with the deans of the
                  colleges).
 
Function: In accordance with federal law and university policy the IRB is charged with overseeing
                  compliance with federal regulations related to human subjects research.
